IT IS YOU
WHO IS AT THE CENTER
Your world, your interests,
your wishes for a conceivable solution
and those of your counterpart,
are key.
That's why I listen to you first.
DR. MARCUS POHL
EXPERTISE AND SENSE
In around twenty-five years of professional activity, I have gained extensive experience as a mediator, business mediator, German lawyer admitted to the bar and corporate lawyer.
I was able to build up my expertise during operational and managerial work, in conflict mediation and (legal) advice, in German and international responsibilities.
As a result, I know the perspectives, goals and challenges of entrepreneurs, as well as the internal workings, upsides and constraints of a company. What defines my work and passion is the joy of finding solutions and making things possible.
Conflicts in the corporate and organizational sectors do not only show professional and financial, but quite often also very personal elements.
In addition to my life and business experience, I look forward to contributing my keen sense for people to your mediation.

SPECIAL SKILLS
My strengths lie in listening carefully and quickly identifying the core of a problem. The combination of professional experience and interpersonal sensitivity – something that is hardly a given – qualifies me for the responsible role of a mediator.
My sensitivity for people, their concerns, and their desires, greatly helps me in working with you to identify the central, underlying interests. From experience, such underlying interests are so important for finding a solution and your overall reconciliation.
In addition to my mediating nature, I am very adept at recognizing opportunities and chances for both sides and constructively reconciling apparent contradictions.
EDUCATION
Frankfurt - Heidelberg - Constance
After graduating from high school near Heidelberg and completing my mandatory military service near Würzburg, I completed a banking apprenticeship in Frankfurt, followed by internships in Dresden, Frankfurt and Toronto/Canada.
From 1992, I studied law at the Universities of Heidelberg and Constance, specializing in corporate and commercial laws. In addition to my legal clerkship and two state examinations, I completed my doctorate (Dr. iur.) at the University of Heidelberg.
LAWYER
Frankfurt
From 1999, I then worked as a lawyer at the major international law firms Shearman & Sterling (now: A & O Shearman) and White & Case, Feddersen, both in Frankfurt, with a regional focus on clients in Germany and Europe.
Our clients included leading personalities and investors as well as well-known international and national companies from a wide range of sectors: service providers, banks, commodities, IT, energy, automotive, trade and technology.
CORPORATE LAW
AND SUPERVISORY BOARD
Stuttgart - Vienna
In June 2003, I moved to Stuttgart to work in the private sector, where, as a corporate lawyer and authorized signatory, I was entrusted with national and international assignments, as well as various people manager roles, for a leading global IT group. Regionally, I served not only Germany, but also Austria, Switzerland, Central and Eastern Europe, and Northeastern Europe.
As Secretary to the Supervisory Board, I coordinated the collaboration between the Supervisory Board and management for many years and successfully mediated between the capital and co-determination sides. You can find a reference from this exciting period here.
LEGAL FOCUS AND MEDIATION
Frankfurt - Stuttgart - Heidelberg
I focused on commercial and corporate law, M&A, commercial and banking law, consensus-oriented negotiation of a wide variety of contract types (shareholdings, successions, supply, customer, partner, and cooperation agreements, software, outsourcing, and services), coaching young professionals and junior employees, and amicable conflict resolution.
The joy of amicable settlements, the excellent training at the Heidelberg Institute for Mediation and the University of Heidelberg, and the wonderful effect of successful mediation, when two or more parties to a conflict ultimately look each other in the eye, led me to found the Albertina Institute for Mediation several years ago.
